THE GRAYSTONE WEDDING
Located in the historic district of downtown Wilmington, just
three short blocks from the River Walk, shops and restaurants,
The Graystone is the most impressive historic inn in Wilmington
to have your wedding. Originally built as the Bridgers Mansion
in 1905 by Elizabeth Bridgers, widow of prominent local
merchant, Preston Haywood Bridgers, The Graystone is now a AAA
Four Diamond and a Select Registry property. (Photographs

The grandeur and elegance of The Graystone provides the perfect
setting for your wedding. The architectural details of the
interior of the Graystone, from the majestic Corinthian columns
in the Grand Hall to the intricate fireplace carvings, provide
the perfect backdrop for your wedding ceremony/reception,
portraits and photographs.
WEDDING and RECEPTION (more than 10 people)
The Main Floor. The
main floor of The Graystone consists of 4300
square feet of space elegantly decorated with period antiques.
Also included in the main floor rental are the gardens and
verandas. The ground floor has ample space for a dance floor and
musicians/DJ, and can accommodate up to 150 people.
SMALL WEDDING CEREMONY (up to 10 people)
Sunday through Thursday
Elopement Package:
The Graystone Inn offers an Elopement Package Sunday through
Thursday. In consideration of other guests in the inn, we
require that the ceremony and toast conclude by 5:30 pm. Our
Elopement Package continues to be a very popular package and
includes:
-
Two nights accommodation for the bride and groom in the
Bridgers
or Burgwin-Wright rooms (based on availability), and
includes a full breakfast each morning of your stay.
-
One dinner for the bride and groom at one of two popular
downtown restaurants. Choose an appetizer, entre, dessert and
non-alcoholic beverage (gratuity not included).
- Ceremony for up to a total of 10 people in either the
dining
room/parlor or the side garden. The
dining room and adjacent
parlor are the perfect place for a small wedding ceremony. These
rooms can be shut off from the rest of the inn for complete
privacy. The garden space consists of a covered veranda and a
lower brick patio. In the event of rain the ceremony can easily
be moved to the dining room/parlor. You provide the minister or
magistrate.
- Champagne toast for you and your guests.
Please note: If you wish to bring a wedding cake, we will
provide dishes, silverware, napkins and cake cutter for an
additional small fee.
BRIDAL PORTRAITS, REHEARSAL DINNERS, BRIDESMAIDS’ LUNCHEONS, AND
BRIDAL SHOWERS

If you choose to have your wedding at The Graystone, a two-hour
bridal portrait opportunity is included in the wedding fees. If
your wedding will be at another location, you may still have
your bridal portrait opportunity at the Graystone for a small
fee.
The Graystone also hosts Bridesmaids’ luncheons, bridal showers,
and rehearsal dinners. Please contact the inn’s Event Planner
for further information.
OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATIONS
The Graystone has
nine elegant rooms for you and your wedding
guests. What a great way to have your friends or family together
on your wedding weekend. If you rent the main floor of the inn
and your event goes beyond 5:30 PM, all of the guest rooms must
be rented. There is a two-night minimum stay on the weekends
(Friday and Saturday night). If your wedding is on a Sunday
there is only a one-night rental requirement for the guest
rooms.
If you are purchasing the Elopement Package, there is no
requirement to rent all of the guest rooms at the inn; although
many of our brides and grooms and their families decide to stay
at the Graystone.
Our guest rooms may be viewed at
www.graystoneinn.com. Please
check availability with the Inn staff. Guest room charges are
paid either by the bride and groom, their families, or the
individual guests at the time of checkout and are separate from
the fees associated with the ceremony/reception. For your
reference there is a guest room rate sheet included in this
information package.
